The Quakes on Sunday went up against the number one team in the league Los Doyers. Quakes pitchers held the best hitting team to 5 hits, and didn't allow extra base hit all day. Really no balls were even hit hard all day. Matty started on the mound striking out six batters, and only giving up 2 earn runs. Robert Quakes newest player came in and threw three and a third of solid ball. He allowed only 2 bloop singles and left the Doyers off balance for most of the day. This was Roberts first time on the mound, and he didn't disappoint striking out 4 and not giving up a earn run. Justin came in and finish up the game throwing an inning; giving up only one hit and striking out one. Even though the Quakes pitchers gave up only 2 earn runs and 5 total hits the defense let them down. The Quakes had five costly errors on there way to allowing Los Doyers to come back and win the game 8-7. This is the sixth time this year that the Quakes lost a close game, but the Quakes aren't letting this ruin there spirits. In the game of baseball everything evens out in the end. Jason went 3-5 with a triple and a double while scoring twice, and Wes batting in the fourth spot drove in two men. Topper had his first two hit game while driving in one, and Ian hit a triple which also scored a man. Matty also help himself out by getting a hit and RBI along with with Justin who had anther two hit game. The Quakes offense did a pretty good job Sunday, and if the defense can get back to playing solid ball again they should be in line for a good second half.
