Kings Have 3-2 Lead Headed into 6th, but Cannot Hang On
Christian Cardenas hit the go-ahead 2-run homerun in the top of 5th, but the Legends took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Mitch Maltby pitched a terrific 6 inning, allowing only 5 R with 5 K. It was his longest and most effective outing of the season, after coming off of rehab.
The Kings played relatively well defensively and held the Legends to a season-low 11 runs. They played free of errors unless the 6th inning.
Marcos Morales scored 2 of the Kings' 3 runs, and Cardenas added 2 extra base hits, including the 2-run homerun. Kris Osborne added an RBI single to score Morales for the first run of the game.
Although a loss, Kings played one of the their best games of the season, despite missing their catcher and shortstop.
